The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Modifications Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
